for the first time?
You may never have been at church before and want to give it a try, perhaps you are looking for a new church or are just in the area. Whatever the reason, you will be really welcome in New Mossley!
Most Sundays throughout the year we have two services of worship:
11am – 12:15pm
6:30pm – 7:30pm
When you arrive at our morning service there will be someone at the door to welcome you and to hand you our weekly announcement sheet. You will then be directed into the main hall where you can take your seat. We do not have assigned seating so you can sit wherever you wish.

The service will begin with a welcome by the minister (or whoever is taking the service) who will then read from the Bible and introduce a couple of songs for the congregation to sing. Our singing is a mixture of modern and traditional songs, led by our Praise Band. We will then read a passage from the Bible and the minister will speak to the children about what we have just read.
In our church there is a creche, Sunday School and Bible Class for our young people – and after the minister speaks to the children they leave the service to go to the appropriate place. After this we collect an offering and then pray for others before singing a couple more songs and the minister explains the part of the Bible which has been read. We finish with a song and then a blessing, before having tea and coffee at the back of the hall.
The evening service follows a similar order – however there is no kids ministry and the tea and coffee comes before the service!
We realise that there are many questions people might have when coming to church – we hope to answer some of them here!
You will find us at the “top” of New Mossley estate in Newtownabbey. When you enter New Mossley from the Ballyclare Road we are located on the right hand side on Ballycraigy Way.
No, we do not expect people to dress in a certain way. We want you to wear what you are comfortable in. You will find you are just as at home in shorts, jeans or a t-shirt as you would be if you wear a suit.
There is no expectation on anyone to do anything. If you want to take a seat, sit quietly and leave quickly – you are welcome to do that (although we would hope you stay to have a chat). There will be no obligation for you to sing or to pray out loud.
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage you to bring them with you. We love to have children in our service as they add so much to the church and to our worship. There is no problem with noise or movement – we just want them to feel part of us. In most services the kids will leave to go to creche or Sunday School apart from the last Sunday of the month when we will have an all-age service.
No, there will be an offering collected which you can contribute to, if you wish. However, this is mainly for regular attenders – there is no obligation for you to give money.
We have our own large car park outside our building with plenty of room available. There are also a limited number of disabled spaces, if required.
